Salisbury Cathedral and City

13th Century City. Best surviving Magna Carta. World's oldest working clock.

UK's tallest church spire, largest cloister and cathedral close.

Only 30-45 mins with Southampton Cruise Tours and 20 mins from Stonehenge.

Described as the City in the Countryside, Salisbury retains much of its historic past and makes an excellent short break destination. Salisbury has recently been declared one of the Lonely Planet's Top 10 Cities in the Best in Travel for 2015.

Salisbury Cathedral is one of the leading examples of early English architecture. The main body of the cathedral was completed in 1258.

The cathedral has the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom (123m/404 ft) the largest cloister and largest Cathedral Close at 80 acres. It contains the world's oldest working clock (from AD 1386) and has the best surviving of the four original copies of Magna Carta.

30-45 minutes from the port Southampton Cruise Tours to Salisbury.

Ideal for a combination of visits to match your schedule and popular during Southampton Cruise Transfers for London and Heathrow Airport..

Parking in the cathedral car park at the centre gives great access to both Salisbury Cathedral and the historic city.

Salisbury Cathedral with nearly 800 years of history to explore and over 70,000 tons of medieval craftsmanship to admire, there is plenty to see, do and learn.  Ideally we suggest you allow between 1.5 - 3 hours for your visit but you can see most of the highlights in 45 minutes if you are pressed for time.

Salisbury city retains much of it's past with timbered buildings and original streets to explore.

Often combined with trips to Stonehenge and Old Sarum both are only minutes away from Salisbury

The Perfect Way To End Your Visit

An old English pub The New Inn, New Street, Salisbury

Complete your tour with a short circulatory walk around the city centre taking in some of the oldest buildings and streets.

If you have time, lunch at The New Inn pub. An old English pub built around 1380 and located adjacent to the cathedral and centre. Serving good quality English food including fish & chips.

A perfect end to your visit.

Your Southampton Cruise Tour - A Four hour Salisbury excursion from collection to drop-off back at your ship. A loose and flexible itinerary with recommendations from your personal driver. Generally an itinerary would incude beginning with a 45 min to an hour's cathedral visit followed by a pub lunch and a short adjacent walk around the old city lanes. However, there are many options to maximise your visit.

Itineraries are individually set against your available time and requirements so the above is just a common example.

The most popular tour - Salisbury Cathedral & City combined with Stonehenge. A 6 hour tour with both locations complimenting eachother and ideal for a cruise ship tour.

Consider Winchester City and Winchester Cathedral being only 20 minutes from Southampton and 45 minutes from Salisbury. A good pairing with Salisbury being the old capital of England.
